Core Beliefs
Scripture
We believe in the 66 books of the Old and New Testament. We believe that these books are written without error and are complete truth (John 17:17). We believe that all scripture is inspired by God, and useful in training us how to live a righteous life (2 Tim 3:16). We believe that the word of God speaks to us as we seek to live a life with Jesus Christ as our personal Savior (Heb 4:12).
God The Father
We believe that there is one God; the ultimate authority, ruler of Heaven and earth, and creator of all things (1 Tim 1:17). We believe that He is compassionate, slow to anger, unfailing in love and righteous in judgement (Jonah 4:2, Rom 2:2, 5).
God The Son
We believe that Jesus Christ is the one true Son of God born of the virgin Mary (Luke 1:35). We believe that Jesus is fully God and fully man and that he endured temptation to live a sinless life as an example to those who would believe in Him (Heb 4:15). We believe that He died to bring us salvation from our sin and after three days He was resurrected from the dead, ultimately defeating death (1 Cor 15:3-4, Rom 6:4, 23).
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is also a coequal with God and Jesus (Matt 28:19). We believe that He inspired the writers of the Holy scriptures (2 Pet 1:21). We believe that the Holy Spirit was sent to be a Helper for the Christian believer and to convict the world of sin and righteousness (John 16:7-8). We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells each believer and gives us spiritual gifts to help fulfill the ministry we are called to (1 Cor 12:7, 13). We believe that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us in our prayer life and testifies that we are children of God (Rom 8:16, 26-27).
Doctrine of Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God and given rule over the earth (Gen1: 27-31). We believe in the original sin in which we inherited a sinful nature that separated man from God. (Gen 3). We believe that since Jesus Christ died for man, we should live our lives as Holy sacrifices in service to Him (Rom 12:1).
Doctrine of Salvation
We believe that salvation is a free gift of God, that we cannot do anything of ourselves to earn salvation but that it comes through faith alone in Jesus Christ (Eph 2:8-9). We believe that God sent Jesus as a sacrifice to become sin for us so that we could be reconciled to God (2 Cor 5:21).
Sanctification
We believe that it is God’s will for us to become Holy (1 Pet 1:15-16). We believe that sanctification comes through reading the Holy scriptures and prayer, and through trusting in the Holy Spirit (1Tim 4:5, 2 Thes 2:13).
The Church
We believe that Christ is the Head of the Church (Eph 5:25-30). We believe the church is called to serve the community in truth as lead by the Holy Spirit (1 Tim 3:15). We believe the great commission of Christ to his disciples is for the Church today, and that we should baptize new believers as Christ commanded (Matt 28:18-20). We also believe that we are called to fellowship around the Lord’s table to examine ourselves as we share communion together (1 Cor 11: 20-29).
